About Us

We’ve been part of the Norman community since 1968. What started as a small Irish pub across the street from the University of Oklahoma has grown into a game-day tradition, a neighborhood hangout, and a second home for generations of students, alumni, and locals.

We’re proud of our roots and how far we’ve come. I took over the pub in 1979, and since then, it’s been my goal to keep that same welcoming, laid-back atmosphere while continuing to grow with the community. In 2007, we moved to our current location on Asp Avenue to make way for university expansion — but the spirit of O’Connell’s came with us.

Game days here are something special. You’ll find our place packed with fans decked out in crimson and cream, burgers sizzling on the grill, cold beers flowing, and the kind of energy you just can’t replicate. We’ve got TVs everywhere, so no matter where you sit, you’re in the middle of the action.

But O’Connell’s isn’t just a game-day bar — it’s an every-day kind of place. We’ve got weekly events like trivia, karaoke, Singo, and burger nights, plus some of the best comfort food around. From our loaded fries and wings to the classic fish and chips and build-your-own burgers, we make everything fresh, and we serve it with a smile.

Over the years, we’ve celebrated a lot here — birthdays, graduations, big wins, and even just the little wins that come with a cold drink and good company. Whether it’s your first time in or your thousandth, we want you to feel right at home.
